Roll Out, Cowboy WINS Best Documentary at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

We couldn’t be happier!!!   I often joke that “Independent film” should be called “Community film” due to all who generously donate their time, hearts and minds to bring independent films to the people.  STIFF – (Seattle’s True Independent Film Festival celebrates off-beat independent film from around the world.)… and is one of the most fun, down to earth and biggest supporters of independent film I’ve seen.  The organizers; Brian, Steve and Clint programmed some stellar films and bought us some stellar shots of whiskey;)  STIFF (Thank you for hosting killer parties, showcasing a variety of independent films, and hosting Roll Out, Cowboy.)

I share this award with Warner Boutin (Producer – my incredible partner in film)…Elizabeth Ross (Editor – who endured 9 months in the sweltering LA dining room edit suite with me.  She is a true story wizard!)… Chris Sand (aka Sandman the Rappin’ Cowboy - who agreed to share 3+ years of his life, whose openness and career perseverance constantly inspires me as a filmmaker)… Shawn Parke & Jonah Carpenter (aka Moustaches - who were literally an instrumental necessity to the film and whose comedic and soulful spirits remind audiences to, “Dance as they feel.”)…  Martine Workman & Josh Tokle (Title Design & Web Design - you guys are truly a Workle dream team!)…  Seattle (Audience – you represented in numbers and in enthusiasm!  THANK YOU.)

Here are some STIFFY photos:)

It was only fitting that we held our after party at The Wild Rose Bar.  Chris’ lovely Aunt Bryher Rose (featured in the film) used to manage the bar in the eighties.  Unfortunately she couldn’t make the screening (now lives in Montana) but her spirit was partying with us!  Here are some pics:

…check out the short documentary DIVE! by Jeremy Seifert.

JEREMY RESCUES PRODUCE FROM THE TRASH (photo courtesy of www.divethefilm.com)

This award-winning short will throw you head first into the dumpster diving community of Los Angeles.  The film informs the audience through scary statistics about food waste in America and entertains through shooting renegade late night dumpster dives.  The film is peppered with a great soundtrack, stop-motion animated produce and Seifert’s scene stealer of a son.  This film will make you wanna put on your wet suit and dive into helping feed America.
